The Triumph Spitfire Is A Small Sports Car With Two Seats That Was First Shown At The London Motor Show In 1962. The Car Was Made Using A Blueprint Created By Italian Designer Giovanni Michelotti For Standard-Triumph In 1957. The Car'S Platform Was Mostly Built Using The Foundation, Motor, And Parts Of The Triumph Herald Sedan. It Was Made At The Standard-Triumph Factory In Canley, Coventry. During That Time, Cars Usually Had A Separate Frame To Hold The Body. However, The Spitfire Was Specially Designed As A Convertible Sports Car. So, The Frame Was Strengthened With Extra Parts Inside The Body To Make It More Rigid. The Spitfire Had A Hood That Was Used In Bad Weather To Protect The Pilot. As The Design Improved, Later Models Of The Spitfire Had A Hood That Could Fold. You Could Also Buy Hard-Tops That Were Made In A Factory.
