The Austin Montego was a car made in Britain by Austin Rover, which was a part of British Leyland. It was produced from 1984 to 1995. The Montego was a new car made by British Leyland to compete with the Ford Sierra and Vauxhall Cavalier. It replaced the old Morris Ital and Austin Ambassador cars. When it was first released, it was sold under two different names: Austin and MG. Starting in 1988, it was sold under the name Rover.
