The Metro Was A Small And Affordable Car Made In Britain By Austin Rover Group. It Started In 1980 As The Austin Minimetro. It Was Made To Go Along With The Mini Car, And It Was Created With The Codename Lc8. The Metro Had Different Names During Its Lifetime, Like Austin Metro, Mg Metro, And Rover Metro. It Was Changed To The Rover 100 Series In January 1995. There Were Also Vans Called The Morris Metro And Later, The Metrovan. When The Metro Was First Released, It Was Sold With The Austin Name. Starting In 1982, Mg Versions Became Accessible. In 1987, They Stopped Using The Name Austin For The Car And Just Called It The Metro. From 1990 To 1997, The Metro Was Only Available For Purchase Under The Name Rover. The R3 Generation Rover 200 Was Supposed To Replace The Metro, But It Wasn'T Advertised That Way When It Was Released. The New Mini Car That Came Out In 2001 Was About The Same Size As The Metro Car. However, It Wasn'T Made To Replace The Metro. It Was Made By Bmw After They Separated The Mini Brand From The Rest Of The Rover Group.
